Do you have difficulty performing everyday activities such as washing your face, shaking hands, or turning a door knob? Are you unable to straighten your fingers? You may have Dupuytren’s disease.
Tired of living like this? Want to find out what can be done?
Click here to learn more about this NEW HAND TREATMENT PROVIDED BY DR. DAVID EVERMAN, hand surgeon.

Dupuytren’s disease is a condition that affects the layer of tissue just under the skin of the palm of the hand. This tissue is called the fascia; it covers the palm and extends into the fingers. As this disease progresses, the tissue thickens due to excess collagen build up. This leads to physical changes in the palm. Lumps and dimples form during the initial stages, and then develop into rope-like cords. The cords pull the fingers to the palm.

There is no cure for Dupuytren’s disease. Several types of surgery have been used in the past to treat the disease. A new non-surgical option is now available at our facility. XIAFLEX™ is the only FDA-approved, non-surgical choice for treatment of adults with Dupuytren’s disease.
Treatment with XIAFLEX™ consists of injecting an enzyme to dissolve the cord in the palm. A manipulation, with or without anesthetic, of the cord is performed by the physician the day after the injection is given. This manipulation breaks the cord and allows the finger to straighten.
Contact our office at 843-449-2336 to schedule a consultation to learn more about this treatment, or other treatment options available at our facility.
